The Ping feature uses the IBM MQ PING QMGR command to check whether a queue manager is responsive and running. It sends a test message to the queue manager’s command server and waits for a reply to confirm that the manager is processing commands correctly.
A successful ping indicates that the queue manager is operational and ready to handle requests, making this a quick and effective way to verify its health and connectivity.
To perform a Ping test:
Select the Queue Manager from the widget.
-
From the Selected menu, choose Commands > Ping.
Result:
-
If the connection is successful, a success message appears at the bottom of the screen.
-
If the connection fails, an error message appears. Click Description to view the reason for the error.
