To start or shut down queue managers, select the queue manager and then choose Commands > Start All WMQ Objects or Stop All WMQ Objects from the selected queue manager’s Selected menu.
Start All WMQ Objects
When you select Start all WMQ objects, the Start Queue Manager dialog appears and displays the selected objects.

Use the checkboxes to select one or both of the following options:
Start channels
Start an instance of a multi-instance queue manager
Click Ok to start the selected objects immediately. Or, click Schedule to start the objects at a later time (See Scheduling).

Stop All WMQ Objects
When you select Stop all WMQ objects, the Stop Queue Manager dialog appears and displays the selected queue managers.

Select a Shutdown Method:
Quiesced: Waits for all connected applications to disconnect before completing the shutdown.
Immediate: Does not wait for applications to disconnect. It allows existing MQI calls to complete, but new calls fail.
Preemptive: Forces the queue manager to stop immediately. Use this option only as a last resort, as it can have unpredictable effects on connected applications.

(Optional) Select one or more Shutdown Options:
Try to Reconnect to Reconnectable Clients
Switch Over to a Standby QMgr
End a standby instance of the QMgr
Click Yes to stop the selected queue manager(s) immediately. Or, click Schedule to stop them at a later time (See Scheduling).

To start or shutdown queue managers, select Commands > Start all WMQ objects or Stop all WMQ objects from the selected queue manager’s action menu (Selected menu in 11.2).

The following dialog is displayed when Start all WMQ objects is selected. You can select Start channels and/or Start an instance of a multi-instance queue manager by clicking the checkboxes.

Stop all WMQ objects
When Stop all WMQ objects is selected, the following dialog is displayed. Select the shutdown method:
- A quiesced shutdown waits for all applications to disconnect before completing the shutdown.
- An immediate shutdown does not wait for applications to disconnect. It allows existing MQI calls to complete, but new calls fail.
- As described on the dialog, a preemptive shutdown should only be performed as a last resort.
