For users with existing roles, the Import Data function can be used to reduce the effort to create new Control Center definitions. It can be used to import a list of audits, users, user groups, roles, server groups, object groups, and trusts from a permits.ini file or another file format, including JSON and XML.

Control Center Import Permissions
- Select Control Center Operations > Import Data from the left toolbar. The Import Data dialog appears.
Import Features/Permits
- Select the first option, Import Features/Permits, from the Import Data dialog, and click Next. The Import Permit Data dialog appears.
- Click Choose File to browse and upload the file from your internal directory. Double-click the file.
- If you are using the imported permissions to add a new role, enter its name in the New Role field. If you are using the imported permissions to modify an existing role, select the existing role from the Role list and choose whether you want to add the new permissions to the existing role (Append to Role) or completely replace the existing permissions (Overwrite Role's Data).
- Click Import.
If the import is successful, a Success message will appear in the lower-right corner of the application window.
Import CC Role
Use this option to import a Control Center (CC) role from a file (for example, JSON). This feature helps you create new roles or update existing roles using predefined role configurations.
To learn how to export a CC role, see Export CC Role Data.
- Select the second option, Import CC Role, from the Import Data dialog, and click Next. The Import CC Role dialog appears.
- Click Choose File and browse to the exported CC role file. Select the file and upload it.
- Under Import into, choose one of the following options:

New Role – Creates a new CC role using the imported configuration.
Enter a name in the New Role Name field. - Overwrite Role – Replaces an existing CC role with the imported configuration.

- Click Import.
If the import is successful, a confirmation message appears in the lower-right corner of the application window.
Import Data (By Groups)
If you have previously exported users, user groups, roles, server groups, object groups, or trusts through the Export Data By Groups method, you can use the Import Data By Groups option to import it back in.
- Select the third option, Import Data By Groups, from the Import Data dialog, and click Next. The Import meshIQ Control Center's Data dialog appears.
- Click Choose File and navigate to the file containing your exported data. Double-click the file.
- The Import meshIQ Control Center's Data dialog reopens and displays a count of the records available in the import file, categorized by data type.

(Optional) Click to expand any data type to preview individual items.
Click Preview for a specific item (e.g., the Developers user group) to view the data contained in the file. - Click Import.
If the import is successful, a Success message will appear in the lower-right corner of the application window.
Restore Data from a Backup
If you have previously exported security data through the Data Backup method, you can use the Restore Data option to import it back in.
- Select the fourth option, Restore Data, from the Import Data dialog, and click Next.
The Import meshIQ Control Center's Data dialog appears. - Click Choose File and navigate to the file that contains your exported data. Double-click the file.
- Click Import.
If the import is successful, a Success message will appear in the lower-right corner of the application window.

Import Permissions
- In version 11.1 and earlier, select Import Data from menu.
In version 11.2, select Import Data from the left toolbar. - Select the first option (Import Features/Permits) and click Next.
- If you are using the imported permissions to add a new role, enter its name in the New Role Name field. If you are using the imported permissions to change an existing user role, select the existing role from the Role list, and choose whether you want to add the new permissions onto the existing role (Append To Role) or completely replace the permissions of the existing role (Overwrite Role's Data).
- Click Import.
If the import is successful, a Success message is displayed in the lower right area of the application window.
Import Features/ Permits in v11.2
Import WSM Group Data
If you have previously exported users, user groups, roles, server groups, object groups, or trusts through the Export Data By Groups method, you can use the Import Data By Groups option to import it back in.
- In version 11.1 and earlier, select Import Data from menu.
In version 11.2, select Import Data from the left toolbar. - Select the second option (Import Data By Groups) and click Next.
- Click Choose File and navigate to the file that contains your exported data.
- Double-click the file. The Import WSM File dialog opens. It displays a count of the number of records that exist in the import file for each type of data.
- (Optional.) You can click to expand each type of data and preview the data for individual items.
Click Preview for an item (for example, the Developers User group) to preview the data in the file: - Click Import.
If the import is successful, a Success message is displayed in the lower right area of the application window.

Restore Data from a backup
If you have previously exported security data through the Data Backup method, you can use the Restore Data option to import it back in.
