This article contains instructions for creating a remote queue manager manually. To learn how to import and export remote manager definitions, see Importing and Exporting Remote Managers.

The Undo button may be available in the remote manager connections window immediately after you add, modify, copy, delete, or import a connection. Only the most recent action can be undone.
- From the workgroup server’s pop-up menu, select Create > Remote Queue Managers. The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens. Hover over a remote queue manager to view its attributes on the right side of the window. You can sort the columns of the remote queue manager table on the left side of the window alphabetically by simply clicking the column headers.
- Click the Add button to add a new remote queue manager connection.
- Fill in fields on the General and Communication vertical tabs. See Remote queue manager field descriptions for details.
- To add exit strings, click
next to Security Exit Name. This dialog shown below opens. Enter a new exit string and click Add. Click Ok to save changes and continue the creation process.
- On the SSL tab window, populate the fields. See Remote Queue Manager Connection Config tab: SSL Connections Example for an example.
For meshIQ Cloud users, in the SSL certificate key field on the SSL tab, enter the path to the uploaded certificate file, as shown on the Certificates tab of your meshIQ Cloud subscription page. See Getting Started: Uploading Certificate for Remote Connections for more information.
- Click Settings to configure cryptographic hardware settings. Make your selections and click Ok.
- Back on the SSL tab, click Ok to save all changes.
Verify a manager connection

Edit a manager connection
- Select a workgroup server within the Workgroup Server viewlet.
- From the pop-up menu, select Create > Remote Queue Managers. The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to modify.
- Click Modify.
- Make your changes and click OK.
Copy a manager connection
The Copy as command is used to copy the definition of an existing connection manager to a new one.
- Select a workgroup server within the Workgroup Server viewlet.
- From the pop-up menu, select Create > Remote Queue Managers. The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to use as a basis for a new connection.
- Click Copy as.
- Make your changes and click OK.
Delete a manager connection
- Select a workgroup server within the Workgroup Server viewlet.
- From the pop-up menu, select Create > Remote Queue Managers. The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
- At the confirmation message, click Yes to confirm the deletion, No to cancel it, or Schedule to specify a future date and time to delete the object.

Version 12.x and Later
Remote connections can now only be created for the node(s) you have currently selected. This change ensures that connections are accurately scoped and helps prevent cross-node misconfigurations.

The Undo button in the Remote Manager Connections window becomes available immediately after you add, modify, copy, delete, or import a connection. You can undo only the most recent action.
Creating a Remote Queue Manager Connection
- Select the Queue Manager node, then from the Selected menu, click Manage Connections.
- The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
– Hover over a remote queue manager to view its attributes on the right side of the window.
– You can sort columns in the remote queue manager table alphabetically by clicking the column headers. - Click the Add New Queue Manager Connection
button to create a new remote queue manager connection.
- The Add Queue Manager Connection dialog opens.
- Fill in the required fields under the General and Communication vertical tabs.
– See Remote queue manager field descriptions for detailed guidance. - Navigate to the SSL tab and populate the fields.

For meshIQ Cloud Users: In the SSL Certificate Key field, enter the path to your uploaded certificate file. You can find this path on the Certificates tab of your meshIQ Cloud subscription page. For more info, see Getting Started: Uploading Certificate for Remote Connections. - Click Settings to configure cryptographic hardware settings. Make your selections and click Ok.
- Return to the SSL tab, then move to the SSH tab.
- On the SSH tab, populate the necessary fields. Click OK to create connection immediately, or click Schedule to create the connection at a later time (see Scheduling for details).
Verify a Manager Connection

Modify a Manager Connection
- Select the Queue Manager node, then from the Selected menu, click Manage Connections.
- The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to modify.
- From the Selected menu, click Modify.
- The Change Queue Manager Connection dialog opens. Make the necessary changes.
- Click OK to save all changes immediately, or click Schedule to apply the changes at a later time (see Scheduling for details).
Copy a Manager Connection
The Copy As command is used to copy the definition of an existing remote connection and create a new one based on it.
- Select the Queue Manager node, then from the Selected menu, click Manage Connections.
- The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to copy.
- From the Selected menu, click Copy as.
- The Add Queue Manager Connection dialog opens.
- Modify the copied connection details as needed.
- Click OK to save all changes immediately, or click Schedule to create the new connection at a later time (see Scheduling for details).
Delete a Manager Connection
- Select the Queue Manager node, then from the Selected menu, click Manage Connections.
- The Remote Queue Manager Connections window opens.
- Select the remote connection that you want to delete.
- From the Selected menu, click Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog, choose one of the following:
– Click Yes, Delete to delete the connection immediately.
– Click No, Keep to cancel the deletion.
– Or click Schedule to delete the connection at a later time (see Scheduling for details).
