A listener is a process that runs under a queue manager and listens on a specific port and transport type for incoming network connection requests.
When started, the listener waits for connection attempts from remote systems and starts the receiving end of a channel when the sending end is initiated by an application.
To start a listener:
In the Listeners widget, select the listener you want to start.
-
From the Selected menu, navigate to:
Commands > Start -
The Confirm Start Listener Action dialog opens.
Click Yes to start the listener immediately, or click Schedule to perform the action at a later time.
(See Scheduling Jobs for more information.)
Once started, the listener status changes to Running, and it begins monitoring its configured port for incoming connection requests.
