This article explains how to create, view, edit, copy, delete, disable and enable monitors.
It also explains how to view alerts related to a specific monitor.

Create Monitor
To create a monitor:
- Navigate to Monitors from the left side menu.
- Click the Add Monitor button.
- In the Add Monitor dialog box, select one of the following options:
- Create Monitor Using Wizard
- Create Monitor From Template (This enhancement is on the roadmap)

Create Monitor Using Wizard
- In the Add Monitor dialog box, select Create Monitor Using Wizard. The Create Monitor Using Wizard dialog opens.
- Enter the Monitor Name and Description.
- Enter a Tag Name and press Enter to add it, or click "Add item" from the dropdown. You can add multiple tags.
- Select a Category and Type from the dropdown menu, then click Continue.
Associate Resource Group
- The Associate Resource Group tab opens. You can either select an existing resource group from the list or create a new one.
- To create a new resource group, click the Create Resource Group
button. The Create Resource Group dialog opens. [Click here to learn how to create a resource group.]
- Use the Search (Filter By) field to filter available resource groups.
- Select the checkbox for the desired resource group. Turn on the Show Selected Only slider to display only the selected resource group(s).
- To preview the resource group details, click the Preview Resource Group
icon. The View Resource Group dialog opens, showing the resource group's details.
- Click Continue.
Select Metrics
- In the Select Metrics tab, choose a Metric from the dropdown and click the
button.
- You can add multiple metrics. To remove a metric, click the Remove Metric
button.
- After adding, you can preview metric details on the right side of the dialog.
- Click Continue.
Alert Rules
The Alert Rules tab opens. Click the Add Rule button to create a new alert.
Configure Conditions
- Select a Metric in the left field.
- Use the middle dropdown to choose a comparison operator, such as:
- greater than (
>) - less than (
<) - equal to (
=) - not equal to (
!=) - greater than or equal to (
>=) - less than or equal to (
<=)
- Then choose Value or Field:
- If you select Field, choose the metric.
- If you select Value, enter the value.
When you select an enum-type metric (like WgsChannelType), you can choose only from its predefined list of valid values.
Add Additional Metrics (Optional)
Click Expand Primary Metric to add another metric field within the same condition.
This allows you to compare one metric with another metric (Field-to-Field comparison).
Click Collapse Primary Metric to remove the additional metric field.
Add Multiple Conditions (Optional)
Click Expand Expression to add additional input fields within the same expression.
Click Collapse Expression to hide the additional input fields.
To remove a condition, click the Remove Expression icon.
Use the following option to define additional conditions:
Click Add Expression to add a new condition row.
If multiple expressions are added, an AND/OR option appears to define the logical relationship between conditions.
Select Alert Severity
Choose the alert severity level:
- Critical
- Error
- Warning
- Success
- Info
Turn on the For All Other Conditions toggle to apply the selected alert severity when none of the defined conditions are met.
Click Continue.
Alert Configuration
In the Alert Configuration tab, configure alert notification settings.
Trigger Notification
Select how notifications should be triggered:
- Single – Sends a notification only once when the alert condition is met.
- Repeat – Sends repeated notifications if the same alert occurs again after a defined time interval.
If Repeat is selected:
- Specify the time interval (in Seconds, Minutes, Hours, or Days) for re-triggering the notification when the same alert occurs again.
Repeated Alert Behavior
If the same alert is generated again within the specified time interval, the system will resend the notification based on the configured settings.
Multiple Alerts Handling
Choose how notifications should be sent when multiple alerts are generated by the same monitor:
- Grouped together – Combines multiple alerts into a single notification.
- For each alert – Sends a separate notification for each alert.
Click either the Notification Summary (top) or Content (bottom) input field on the left to set focus. An arrow indicates the currently selected field.
Then, select a variable from the list on the right to insert it into the selected field. Use the Search (Filter By) field to filter available variables.
Click Save.
A new monitor is created.
View Monitor
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose View Monitor. The View Monitor Details dialog opens.
- Click through the different tabs—Metrics, Expression, Schedule, Notifications, Resource Groups, and Alert Configuration—to view their respective details.
Edit Monitor
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Edit Monitor. The Edit Monitor Using Wizard dialog opens.
- Enter the required details in the relevant tabs. Refer to the Create Monitor instructions above to make the necessary changes while editing the monitor.
Delete Monitor
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Delete Monitor.
- In the Delete Monitor dialog, type DELETE (in all capital letters) in the provided field.
Then click Yes, Delete to confirm, or No, Keep to cancel the action.
Copy Monitor
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Copy Monitor.
- The Copy Monitor dialog opens. Enter a new name and click Save.
A new monitor is created with the same configurations.
Disable Monitor(-s)
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Disable Monitor(-s).
- The selected monitor will be disabled from monitoring.
Enable Monitor(-s)
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Disable Monitor(-s).
- The monitor will be enabled for monitoring.
Alert List
- Select the checkbox next to the desired monitor.
- From the Selected menu, choose Alert List.
- Clicking this option will navigate you to the alerts page, where only the alerts related to the selected monitor(s) are displayed.
