A Service object in IBM MQ allows additional processes to be managed as part of a queue manager.
With services, you can define programs that start and stop automatically when the queue manager starts and ends.
All IBM MQ services run under the user ID of the user who started the queue manager.
To start a service:
In the Services widget, select the service you want to start.
-
From the Selected menu, navigate to:
Commands > Start -
The Confirm Start Service Action dialog opens.
Click Yes to start the service immediately, or click Schedule to perform the action at a later time.
(See Scheduling Jobs for more information.)
Once started, the service status changes to Running, and it begins performing its configured operations to support the queue manager.
The service runs under the same user ID as the queue manager and continues to operate until it is stopped or the queue manager ends.
