Version 12.x and Later

The Save Messages tab located on the Settings window is used to configure the saving of messages when they are exported from a queue into a file.
The Save Messages tab is available in both the User Settings and Initial User Settings.

User Settings – Personal preferences specific to the logged-in user.
Initial User Settings – Default settings are applied to new users when they log in for the first time or when an existing user restores their settings by clicking the Restore Initial Settings button. Only users with elevated permissions (Admins) can modify these settings.

File Settings
File Creation	Defines how exported messages are written to files. Write All Messages to Single File: All exported messages are saved in one file. Write Each Message to Separate File: Each message is saved in its own individual file.
Message Settings
Message Header	Determines how message headers are handled during export. Leave All: Includes all message headers. Strip All: Removes all headers before export. Strip Md: Removes only the MQMD (Message Descriptor) header, keeping other headers intact.
Message Selection	Defines the criteria for choosing which messages to export. By Position: Selects messages based on their position in the queue (e.g., first 10 messages). By Identity: Selects messages based on unique identifiers such as Message ID or Correlation ID.
Message Delimiter	Specifies the delimiter used to separate messages when exporting multiple messages to a single file. Options include: Lf, CrLf, Tab, Ft, and Specify Delimiter String. If you select Specify Delimiter String, use the Message Delimiter String field to define your own custom delimiter.
Message Delimiter String	Allows you to enter a custom delimiter string that will be inserted between messages in the exported file. Examples: `###END###` `---` `====NEW MESSAGE====` Use this field only if you selected Specify Delimiter String as the Message Delimiter option.
Message Data Settings
Message Data	Specifies the type of message content to be saved. Full Data: Saves the complete content of each message. Selected Data: Saves only the portion of the message specified by Data Offset and Data Size.
Data Offset	Sets the starting byte (offset) from which data should be read and saved. Default is 0.
Data Size	Specifies the number of bytes to save starting from the offset. For example, if Data Offset is 10 and Data Size is 64, it will save bytes 10–73 of the message.
