The functionality described in this article is available in XRay versions 1.5 and greater.
Providers are the services you can select from when setting up messaging actions for alerts. There are currently three provider options available:
- Email. Information about setting up Email as a provider is covered in this article.
- Slack. For information about setting up Slack integration, including how to set up Slack as a provider, see Social Integration: Slack.
- Logs. Information about setting up Logs as a provider is covered in this article.
The instructions directly below pertain to version 1.6. For instructions that pertain to version 1.5, see Set up an Email Provider (v1.5) and Set up a Log Provider (v1.5).
Set up an Email Provider (v1.6)
- From Main Menu > Admin Settings > Providers, select Email.
- Click Create.
- Enter a Provider Name.
- Enter a Host and Port.
- Enter a Username and Password.
- If your email provider is required to use STARTTLS, select the Enable STARTTLS option.
- Click Create.
Set up a Log Provider (v1.6)
Log providers are used to log data into a log file in file system. They are only applicable to on-premises servers, where clients have access to the log files.
- From Main Menu > Admin Settings > Providers, select Logs.
- Click Create.
- Enter a Provider Name.
- Enter a File Name. This is the name of the file, as it is stored in the CEP server.
- If you want to append the action to the file, select the Append checkbox.
- In the Line field, a trigger is created using the shortcuts provided in the Line Editor. Click the Edit button below the Line field to access the Line Editor and make changes. When changes are complete, click Apply.
- Click Create.
Edit a provider
- Click the edit icon for the provider.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save.
Clone a provider (v1.6 only)
To create a new provider based on an existing provider, use the clone function.
- Click the clone icon for the provider you want to copy. By default, the name of the new provider is the name of the cloned provider followed by "Copy."
- Enter a name for the new provider.
- Make any other desired changes.
- Click Create..
Delete a provider
- Click the delete icon for the provider you want to remove.
- Click Yes at the confirmation message. The provider is removed.
Set up an Email Provider (v1.5)
- From Main Menu > Admin Settings > Providers, select Email.
- Click Create.
- Enter a Provider Name.
- If your email provider is required to use STARTTLS, select the Enable STARTTLS option.
- Enter a Host and Port.
- Enter a Username and Password.
- Click Create.
Set up a Log Provider (v1.5)
Log providers are used to log data into a log file in file system. They are only applicable to on-premises servers, where clients have access to the log files.
- From Main Menu > Admin Settings > Providers, select Logs.
- Click Create. The Editing Provider console opens.
- Enter a Provider Name.
- The File Name is filled in according to the name of the file, as it is stored in the CEP server.
- If you want to append the action to the file, choose Yes from the Append list.
- In the Line field, a trigger is created using the shortcuts provided in the Line Editor. Click the Edit button below the Line field to access the Line Editor and make changes. When changes are complete, click Apply.
- Click Save.
