A Pie Chart widget displays aggregated object data as proportional segments in a circular chart. It helps you visualize distribution across multiple objects, such as queues, queue managers, brokers, or channels.
You can create a Pie Chart widget by:
Creating a new widget
Editing an existing widget
All supported objects that allow aggregation can be displayed in a Pie Chart.
Create a New Pie Chart Widget
Click the Add Widget
button at the top-right of the dashboard.
The Create Widget dialog opens.Select Create Using Object Search or Create Temporary Using Search.
The Create New Widget dialog opens. From the Technology list, select the required technology.
From the left side of the dialog, select the required object type (for example, Node, Manager, Queue, or Channel).
From the Widget Type list, select Pie Chart.
Scroll to the bottom of the dialog and select the required aggregation function.
When you select a function, the available configuration fields change based on the aggregation type.
Function and Aggregation Mapping
The following table describes the available aggregation functions and their required fields:
| Function | Required Fields |
|---|---|
| Count | Group By |
| Value | Value |
| Max | Value, Group By |
| Min | Value, Group By |
| Sum | Value, Group By |
| Average | Value, Group By |
Field Behavior
Value – Select the numeric attribute to which the aggregation function is applied (for example, Queue Depth or Instance Count).
Group By – Select the field used to divide the data into groups before calculating the aggregation (for example, Manager Name or Status).
All available attributes for the selected object appear in the Value and Group By dropdown lists.
After completing the required fields, click Create.
If matching object data exists, the system generates the Pie Chart.
Viewing and Interacting with the Pie Chart
After you create the widget:
Each segment represents aggregated data for the selected grouping.
The first fifty results appear as individual colored segments.
The system groups remaining results into a single segment labeled Other.
Hover over a segment to view detailed values.
Click the legend indicators (colored dots beside each result) to show or hide specific segments in the chart.
Refreshing the widget restores all segments to a visible state.
You can also:
Drag the widget to reposition it within the dashboard.
Resize the widget for better visibility.
The chart updates dynamically based on available data from the connected Remote Definition.
Additional Notes
Pie Charts are best used for visualizing proportional distribution.
When many categories exist, the system groups lower-ranking results under Other.
Use Result Limit to control how many objects appear individually.
Apply Attribute Filters to refine results if needed.
