The Browse Exception option in a Solace ACL (Access Control List) profile allows users to view, add, and delete exceptions in the ACL profile. These exceptions override the default access control action for specific clients, topics, or subscriptions. Essentially, it lets users see which clients or topics have been specifically allowed or denied access contrary to the default rule set in the ACL profile.
Browse Existing Exceptions
In the ACL Profiles widget, select the ACL Profile you want to manage.
From the Selected menu, click Browse Exceptions.
The Exceptions tab opens in the console, listing all existing ACL exceptions for that profile.
You can filter exceptions using the Type dropdown (Client Connection, Publish Topic, Subscribe Share Name, Subscribe Topic).
Add a New ACL Exception
To create a new exception:
In the Exceptions tab, click the Add Exceptions
button.
The Solace ACL Profile Exception Properties dialog opens.
Enter the required details:
Enter the Address when the Type is set to Client Connection.
Enter the Name when the Type is Publish Topic, Subscribe Share Name, or Subscribe Topic.Syntax (SMF or MQTT) — Select SMF for Solace native messaging or MQTT for MQTT-based topics.
This field appears only for topic-based Types (Publish Topic, Subscribe Share Name, Subscribe Topic) and is not shown when Type = Client Connection.
To add multiple exceptions, click the + Add button.
Click Ok to create the exception immediately, or Schedule to apply it at a later time.
(See Scheduling Jobs for more information.)
Once created, the exception appears in the Exceptions tab in the console with its configured type and syntax.
Delete an ACL Exception
While browsing exceptions in the console, select the exception you want to remove.
From the Selected menu, choose Delete.
The Confirm Delete Action dialog opens.
Click Yes to delete immediately, or Schedule to delete later. (See Scheduling Jobs for more information.)
