Tags make finding dashboards easier. You can search for dashboards by the tags that are assigned to them. For more information, see Search for Dashboards by Tags.
To assign tags to dashboards, you must have the Manage Tag Assignment to Dashboards security right.
The Manage Dashboard Tags and Add tags to Dashboard dialogs are different. The Manage Dashboard Tags dialog allows you to view, create, edit, and delete tags, while the Add tags to Dashboard dialog is used specifically to add or remove tags from a dashboard.
Add or Remove Tags
- Click Manage Dashboards
button to open the Manage Dashboards window.
- Select the checkbox next to the dashboard in the Dashboard Name list and click the Assign tags
button located on the right side of the Available Tags section. The Add tags to dashboard dialog will open.
- The left column lists all tags available to assign to the dashboard. The right column lists tags already assigned to the dashboard.
- To add tags: In the Tag Name list (left column), select the checkbox for each tag you want to add, then click the right arrow
to move the selected tags to the right column.

To remove tags: In the right column, select the checkbox for each tag you want to remove, then click the left arrow
to move the selected tags back to the left column.
You can use the checkbox next to the Tag Name list to select all tags and add or remove them. Alternatively, you can hover over the
button to drag and drop tags between columns.
- To add tags: In the Tag Name list (left column), select the checkbox for each tag you want to add, then click the right arrow
- Click Save.
- Use the Search(Filter By) field to search for tags to add or remove.
Manage Dashboard Tags
To ensure control over the classification of dashboards, the ability to create, edit, and delete dashboard tags requires the Manage Dashboards Tags Data security right.
To Create a Tag:
- Click Manage Dashboards
button to open the Manage Dashboards window.
- Click the Manage tags
button.
- The Manage Dashboard Tags dialog will appear.
- Click on the Add
button, and a new empty box will appear below the Tag name list, where you can enter the tag name. Repeat this process to add as many new tags as you want and click Save.

A confirmation dialog will appear; click Yes to save the changes.
To Edit a Tag:
- Click Manage Dashboards
button to open the Manage Dashboards window.
- Click the Manage tags
button.
- The Manage Dashboard Tags dialog will appear. Under the Tag name list, click the tag you want to edit, enter the new tag name, and repeat for other tags if needed.
- Click Save. A confirmation dialog will appear; click Yes to save the changes.
To Delete a Tag:
- Click Manage Dashboards
button to open the Manage Dashboards window.
- Click the Manage tags
button.
- The Manage Dashboard Tags dialog will appear. Click the Delete tag
button next to the tag(s) that you want to delete, then click Save. A confirmation dialog will appear; click Yes to save the changes.
- You can undo the delete action by clicking the Revert tag name
button before saving.
You can also delete a tag that you are editing by clicking the Delete tag button next to it.

Tags make finding dashboards easier. You can search for dashboards by the tags that are assigned to them. For more information, see Search for Dashboards by Tags.
To assign tags to dashboards, you must have the Manage Tag Assignment to Dashboards security right.
You can also manage tags (create, edit, and delete them) from the same dialog.
Add or Remove Tags
- Click
to open the Manage Dashboards dialog.
- Select the checkbox for a dashboard or dashboards in the Dashboard Name list and click Tags.
- The left column lists all tags that are available to be assigned to the dashboard. The right column lists any tags that are already assigned to the dashboard.

- To add tags, on the Tag Name list on the left side, select the checkbox for each tag you want to add to the dashboard. Click the right arrow
to add the tag to the dashboard. The tags is moved to the right column.
- To remove tags, on the right side, select the checkbox for each tag you want to remove from the dashboard. Click the left arrow
to remove the tag from the dashboard. The tags is moved back to the left column.
- To add all tags to the dashboard, whether or not they are selected, click the double right arrow
.
- To remove all tags from the dashboard, click the double left arrow
.
- To add tags, on the Tag Name list on the left side, select the checkbox for each tag you want to add to the dashboard. Click the right arrow
- Click Save.
- Use the Filter By field to search for tags to add or remove.
Manage Dashboard Tags
To ensure control over the classification of dashboards, the ability to create, edit, and delete dashboard tags requires the Manage Dashboards Tags Data security right.
To Create a Tag:
- Click
to open the Manage Dashboards dialog.
- Select the checkbox for a dashboard in the Dashboard Name list.
- Click Tags.
- Click +Add to open the Edit Tags dialog.
- Enter the name of the new tag and click +Add.
- Repeat this process for as many new tags as you want to add.
- Click Save. New tags are added to the bottom of the tag Name list.
To Edit a Tag:
- Click
to open the Manage Dashboards dialog.
- Select the checkbox for a dashboard in the Dashboard Name list.
- Click Tags.
- Select the checkbox or checkboxes for the tag or tags you want to edit and click Edit.
- Update the tag names.
- Click Save.
To Delete a Tag:
- Click
to open the Manage Dashboards dialog.
- Select the checkbox for a dashboard or dashboards in the Dashboard Name list.
- Click Tags.
- Select the checkbox for the tag you want to delete and click Delete.
- Click Yes to delete the selected tag or No to cancel.
You can also delete a tag that you are editing by clicking the Delete button next to it in the Edit Tags dialog.
