When creating a new dashboard, I see an option for using a template. What is this?
A dashboard template is a ready-made dashboard that you can use when creating a new dashboard. You can use it as is or treat it as a starting point to tweak and customize.
When designing a dashboard template, consider which set of widgets you want to include. The widgets you choose will open automatically when the dashboard is created. For example, you might want only topics and partitions, or you might also want brokers.
You can create different templates for different products (Kafka, Solace, RabbitMQ, MQ, IIB/ACE, ActiveMQ or EMS) and they will be available only when that product is selected. Also, note that the node and queue manager default to match the template, but you can change this by clearing the Use original path check box. This allows you to create different dashboards for different managers using the same template.
To create templates, you must be an authorized user with the Use Dashboard As Template right. If you have this right, you can create dashboard templates and share them with other users.
To set one of your dashboards as a template
Click Options on the dashboard.
Select Set as dashboard template.
From that point on, anyone who creates a new dashboard can select this dashboard as the template.

A dashboard template is a ready-made dashboard that can be used when generating a new dashboard. You can use it as-is, or as a starting point, to tweak and customize. For example, you might want topics and partitions only, or you might prefer brokers, too.
