With Internet Explorer becoming a thing of the past, customers wonder if they still need the m6console war file.
The functionality for displaying policies and sensors has been migrated from the m6console into meshIQ Platform since 2021 (see March 2021 newsletter). Any customers still using m6console to display policies should have a plan to migrate to using this functionality. We have not withdrawn the function and it will remain an option if Internet Explorer is available but it will no longer be installed automatically with new installs or service updates.
The m6console war file performs one additional function. It creates an end point inside of the application server. The primary use of this is self-monitoring. That is, it allows you to confirm the web server is running, to monitor heap storage and other run time metrics. This functional is not required if you have other methods to monitor the health of the application servers. If used in this capacity, the AUTOPILOT_HOME environment variables are required in the application server startup.
