The ActiveMQ Broker widget provides multiple actions for managing and monitoring brokers. These actions allow you to perform operational tasks such as starting, stopping, restarting, managing statistics, and updating configurations directly from the interface.
To access broker widget actions, select a broker and click the Selected menu to view the available options.
Show Object Attributes
Select Show Object Attributes from the Selected menu. The Attributes tab opens in the Console. This action displays detailed information about the selected broker’s attributes and configuration.

Show Status
Select Show Status from the Selected menu. The Status tab opens in the Console, displaying detailed runtime information for the selected broker.
This view provides key operational metrics such as configuration details, uptime, connection statistics, and other performance-related data, helping you to monitor the broker’s current state and health.
Commands Menu
The Commands menu provides broker-specific operations as defined in ActiveMQ management capabilities. These include actions to control broker runtime behavior, manage statistics, and perform maintenance operations.
Statistics Submenu
The Statistics submenu under Commands is used to manage and monitor broker-level performance metrics such as message rates, connection counts, and throughput.
Reset
Select Commands > Statistics > Reset. The Confirm Statistics Reset Action dialog opens. Click Yes to reset all broker statistics counters, including message counts, connection data, and throughput metrics.
Enable
Select Commands > Statistics > Enable. The Confirm Enable Statistics Action dialog opens. Click Yes to enable the collection of broker statistics if it was previously disabled.
Disable
Select Commands > Statistics > Disable. The Confirm Disable Statistics Action dialog opens. Click Yes to disable broker statistics collection, pausing metric tracking until it is re-enabled.
Terminate JVM
Select Commands > Terminate JVM. The Confirm JVM Termination Action dialog opens. Click Yes to terminate the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) instance running the selected ActiveMQ broker.
Use this option with caution, as it immediately stops all broker processes.
Stop
Select Commands > Stop. The Confirm Stop Action dialog opens. Click Yes to stop the selected ActiveMQ broker gracefully, allowing connected clients to disconnect and pending messages to finish processing before shutdown.
Restart
Select Commands > Restart. The Confirm Restart Action dialog opens. Click Yes to restart the selected ActiveMQ broker. This action stops the broker and immediately starts it again, applying any configuration changes.
Reload Log4j Properties
Select Commands > Reload Log4j Properties. The Confirm Log4j Reload Action dialog opens. Click Yes to reload the Log4j configuration file for the broker without requiring a restart. This allows you to to apply new logging settings dynamically.
Perform GC
Select Commands > Perform GC. The Confirm GC Action dialog opens. Click Yes to initiate a Java Garbage Collection (GC) cycle on the broker’s JVM, reclaiming unused memory resources.
Transport Connectors
Select Transport Connectors from the Selected menu. The Transport Connectors tab opens in the Console, displaying details of the transport protocols and ports configured for the selected broker.
This view allows you to review how clients connect to the broker.
Properties
Select Properties... from the Selected menu. The Broker Properties dialog opens, displaying configuration details for the selected broker.
You can view or modify broker settings as needed.
Force Update
Select Force Update from the Selected menu. The Force Update action refreshes the broker widget to retrieve and display the most recent data from the server. See What does the command Force Update do?
Events
Select Events... from the Selected menu. The Events option displays a list of recent broker-related events, such as status changes, configuration updates, or system alerts.

Add to favorites...
Select Add to Favorites from the Selected menu. The Add to Favorites option adds the selected broker to your Favorites list for quick access in future sessions.
