By managing filtered columns in a widget, you can tailor the use of the Search (Filter by) box to your specific needs. Instead of using it to filter widget data by all columns only (its default behavior), you can choose one or more specific columns to apply the filter to. For example, you can specify the Put column for filtering, so that a filter for “Allowed” returns only records for which the Put action is allowed.
To manage filtered columns, a user must either be the creator of the widget or, for widgets on shared dashboards, have "write" permission for the widget. After filtered columns have been selected for a widget, all users of the widget can choose whether to filter by the selected columns or by all columns (see Choose a filter method below).
Manage Filtered Columns
- Click the Manage Filtered Columns button at the top right of the widget.
-
To specify which columns to filter the widget data by, click the filter icons next to the column headers. The selected filter icon turns green. When filtering widget data, you can choose whether to use these columns exclusively. See Choose a filter method below.
Clear Column-Specific Filters
To clear an individual column filter, click the filter icon next to the column header. The filter icon turns white.
To clear all filters, click Clear All Selected Filters while in Manage Filtered Columns mode. The filter icons for all columns turn white.
Turn Off Column Filtering
To stop managing which columns are filtered, click the Stop Managing Filtered Columns button at the top right of the widget.
Choose a Filter Method
The filter icon , located on the right side of the Search (Filter by): label, allows you to toggle between filtering by all columns and filtering by selected columns:
Click the filter icon to switch to Filter by Chosen mode. In this mode, records are filtered only by the values in the selected columns (those marked with a green filter icon).
To revert to filtering by all columns, click the filter icon again. It will switch to Filter by All mode, and the Search (Filter by) box will apply to values in all columns.
Enter a filter value in the Search (Filter By) box to filter records as you type.

Version 11.3 and Earlier
By managing filtered columns in a viewlet, you can tailor the use of the Filter by box to your specific needs. Instead of using it to filter viewlet data by all columns only (its default behavior), you can choose one or more specific columns to apply the filter to. For example, you can specify the Put column for filtering, so that a filter for “Allowed” returns only records for which the Put action is allowed.
To manage filtered columns, a user must either be the creator of the viewlet or, for viewlets on shared dashboards, have "write" permission for the viewlet. After filtered columns have been selected for a viewlet, all users of the viewlet can choose whether to filter by the selected columns or by all columns (see Choose a filter method below).
Manage filtered columns
- Select Manage Filtered Columns from the viewlet's menu to allow individual columns to be selected for filtering.
- To indicate which columns you want the viewlet data to be filtered by, click the filter icons
next to the column headers. When filtering viewlet data, users can still choose whether or not to use these columns exclusively. See Choose a filter method below.
Clear all column-specific filters
While in Manage Filtered Columns mode, to "reset" or clear the green filter icons from all columns, click the Clear All Selected Filters button located on the right side of the viewlet. The filter icons for all columns will turn grey
(
will turn white from v11.2 onwards).
Turn off individual column filtering
To stop managing which columns are filtered, select Stop Managing Filtered Columns from the viewlet's menu. Columns that have been selected for filtering retain the green icons. When filtering viewlet data, users can still choose whether or not to use these columns exclusively. See Choose a filter method below.
Choose a filter method
The filter icon , located on the right side of the Filter by: label, allows you to toggle between filtering by all columns and filtering by selected columns:
