To start or shutdown queue managers, select Commands > Start all WMQ objects or Stop all WMQ objects from the selected queue manager’s action menu.
Start all WMQ objects
The following dialog is displayed when Start all WMQ objects is selected. You can select Start channels and/or Start an instance of a multi-instance queue manager by clicking the checkboxes.
For more information on multi-instance queue managers, please go to the IBM Knowledge Center:

Stop all WMQ objects
When Stop all WMQ objects is selected, the following dialog is displayed. Select the shutdown method:
- A quiesced shutdown waits for all applications to disconnect before completing the shutdown.
- An immediate shutdown does not wait for applications to disconnect. It allows existing MQI calls to complete, but new calls fail.
- As described on the dialog, a preemptive shutdown should only be performed as a last resort.
