This article will guide you through the process of creating a Solace JNDI connection and explain the functions available in its dropdown menu.
Solace provides JMS connectivity via JNDI, to allow Java applications connect to Solace brokers. Using JNDI, users can create or lookup JNDI connection factories.
Before creating the JNDI Connection, you must establish a Solace Manager connection. To learn how, click on Create Remote Solace Manager Connection.
Create a JNDI Connection
You can create a JNDI Connection by following these steps:
- Open the JNDI Connection Factory viewlet, click the Add button
.
- The Select Object Path window will open. Specify the Workgroup server, Node, Broker, and Message VPN then click Select path.
By default, all available Workgroup servers, Nodes, Brokers, and Message VPNs are selected. If you want to limit the selection, you must explicitly choose which ones to include. - The Solace JNDI Connection Factory Create Window will open. Enter the JNDI Connection Name (required) and populate other needed details.
- Click Ok to create the JNDI Connection immediately. Alternatively, click Schedule to create it at a future time (see Scheduling for details).

Now, go to the JNDI Connection Factory viewlet to see the newly added object. If you can't find it, refresh the viewlet using the Refresh
icon.

Select the JNDI Connection and click on the pop-up menu (Selected menu from v11.2 onwards) to view its dropdown options.

Delete a JNDI Connection
To delete a JNDI connection, select the Delete option from the Commands menu in the JNDI Connection pop-up menu (Selected menu from version 11.2 onwards). A confirmation dialog will appear; click Yes to delete.
Properties
After selecting Properties from the JNDI Connection Pop-up menu (Selected menu from v11.2 onwards), the Properties window for the JNDI Connection is displayed.
Force Update
In version 11.1 and earlier, the Force Refresh option allows you to refresh the viewlet. To learn more about Force Refresh , see Force Refresh (Viewlet)
In version 11.2 and later, to force update of an connection’s data (for example, if changes have been made to the JNDI Connection and you need to view the latest properties immediately), select its connection, and from the selected menu, click Force Update. This will allow you to force update the data in the specific connection.
In this alternate mode, the regular refresh icon will refresh all the objects in the viewlet.
