The Navigator compare feature allows you to select objects within a viewlet and visibly compare their attributes to quickly recognize inconsistencies. Authorized users can correct definitions with minimal effort.
Watch the following video for a quick overview on comparing and updating queue managers.
Some of the content described in this article is available in Navigator versions 10.4 and greater. See 10.4 Highlights for an overview of feature changes.
How to compare objects
Select the objects you want to compare within a viewlet. You can use the Filter by field to filter the viewlet to easily locate the objects. Select Compare on the action pop-up menu.
If comparing channels, only channels of the same type can be compared.
The example below shows the attributes for two queues.
A compare table consisting of all selected objects opens in the Console panel at the bottom of the screen. Matching values appear in the same color. Attributes which are identical for all objects will appear in standard black. This feature is controlled by the Compare slider button at the top left of the section; toggle this button to disable the color distinctions.
To only view attribute differences, turn on the Differences only option.
How to search for attributes
You can also search the list to find specific attributes or values. Enter part or all of the attribute name or value in the box provided. The first record that matches the value you entered is highlighted. You can then browse through matches using the right and left
arrows.
Update object attributes
Object definitions for multiple items can be updated at one time. See Viewing and updating object definitions for more information.
